Wednesday, December 29th, 2010

Norwalk, CT based marketing agency reflects on 2010 as a year of growth and evolution in strategic positioning

Norwalk, CT (December 20, 2010) – This year began with a promising outlook and has proved to be uplifting for JumarMarketing, LLC, a full-service marketing company specializing in marketing strategies, branding, web design and development, social media and search engine marketing, and public relations. The company, located in Norwalk, CT, ends the year with its feet on the ground after elevating its position in the marketing services industry and achieving double digit growth within the last 12 months.

Jumar’s ascent began with the decision to evolve from the name JumarDirect, LLC to its current JumarMarketing, LLC in February, a change that better reflected its service offering and reach to current and potential clients. This development was also accompanied by a re-branded website that showcased its firm grasp on current technologies and marketing tools, such as Twitter and Blogs, and allowed a forum for real-time client interaction and feedback.

The year was also highlighted by numerous public speaking engagements on a variety of marketing topics, the latest of which was held at the Wilton Library in Wilton, CT, on December 7, 2010. Entitled “Connecting with Your Customers: Online Marketing Strategies,” the session was geared toward local small business owners looking to strengthen their interaction with new and potential customers and ultimately boost business via the latest online technologies. The workshop, following suit with others presented throughout 2010, received accolades from attendees and also generated buzz about Jumar and the talent it possesses within.

“2010 has been a defining year for Jumar. We evolved our services to better correlate with the marketing needs of current and potential clients, and, in turn, were able to provide the strategic guidance for which many had been looking,” stated Judi Virgulak, President and Founder of JumarMarketing, LLC. Virgulak continued, “We’ve accomplished key milestones this year and have built mutually gratifying relationships with many new businesses. Looking back, I am proud of our achievements and am looking forward to elevating Jumar even higher in 2011.”

Jumar’s expanded service offerings, commitment to excellence and community exposure has been an effective combination, as its client list has expanded this year in both volume and range of industries. The ability to cater to each client’s specific situation, understand the uniqueness of the business, and deliver on the client’s expectation is what highlights Jumar as a progressive agency model.

“As new clients of Jumar this year, we at Turning Point Estate Services, LLC were pleased to see how quickly they focused in on what we do, and what was needed to convey that vision to the public at large,” stated Peter Schattenfield, Managing Partner. He continued, “Jumar's team approach ensured a wellspring of fresh ideas and an enthusiastic approach to providing solutions to Turning Point's specific needs. We look forward to continuing to partner with them in our marketing and public relations campaign in the coming year.”

A Dash of Kindness and Tablespoon of Hope: The Perfect Recipe for Many This Holiday Season

Friday, December 3rd, 2010

The day was cold, the wind blustery. But on Saturday, November 20th, the hearts of hundreds of were warmed by the act of giving. Volunteers—the JumarMarketing, LLC team included—of all ages came to lift, haul, sort, organize, and drive in support of the 2010 CT Basket Brigade. At the United Healthcare warehouse in Trumbull, folks assembled baskets filled with all the ingredients for the perfect Thanksgiving meal. There was also a toy or two for children who may otherwise not experience the joy of the season. Many of these same volunteers also personally brought the items to previously identified families in need. Through a year of planning, plentiful donations, and the generosity of participants, this year’s CT Basket Brigade fed 600+ families.

The CT Basket Brigade’s annual event represents the hope and the prospect of giving to those in need. Since 1994, on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, volunteers have been giving baskets filled with food and toys to families in need.
Thanks to the generous support from the community, the CT Basket Brigade has been able to expand its reach: all totaled,
including this year, it has delivered over 56 tons of food!

We at Jumar experienced such joy from partaking in this event, and, judging by the words and actions of our fellow volunteers that day,
we know others were moved as well. But don’t let us speak for you. If you were at the 2010 CT Basket Brigade and have stories, photos,
or videos to share, please visit the Facebook page. You may also email them directly to us at 2010 CT Basket Brigade stories and we'll be
happy to post them for you.

And, believe it or not, we're already planning for next year! Please save the date - Saturday, November 19, 2011, for our next 'Magic Moment'.

"One small act of generosity on the part of one caring person can transform the lives of hundreds."

Thank you again, from the bottom of our hearts, for your amazing support! Please visit www.ctbasketbrigade.org.

The CT Basket Brigade Rallies for Families in Need

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

With focused goals and the most honorable of missions The Connecticut Basket Brigade hopes to feed 1000 families this holiday season

Norwalk, CT, October 28, 2010 – The holidays are a time when families and loved ones gather together and celebrate all that they have. Sadly many families must do so with bare tables and empty ovens. The CT Basket Brigade’s yearly event represents the hope and the prospect of giving to those in need. Self-help author and success coach, Tony Robbins, began the Basket Brigade more than 30 years ago as his individual effort to feed families less fortunate. The program has since grown into the Anthony Robbins Foundation's International Basket Brigade, providing baskets of food and household items for an estimated 2 million people annually, in countries all over the world.

Throughout the year International Basket Brigade volunteers distribute food, clothing, and hope to those who need it most. The 2010 CT Basket Brigade will take place on Saturday, Nov. 20th, at Champ Direct Printing & Mailing, 75 Cascade Boulevard, Milford, CT 06460. A second location may be added as well, in response to the amazing volunteerism over the years (more information to come). During 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, volunteers will assemble and deliver baskets of food and provisions to area families. Last year the CT Basket Brigade fed 500 families; for 2010 it has doubled its goal, hoping to this year feed 1000 families.

In order to reach their objective the CT Basket Brigade is asking you to volunteer and donate some of your time or resources to a cause based on the simple notion that one small act of generosity on the part of one caring person can transform the lives of hundreds. The CT Basket Brigade accepts donations online. A simple donation of $30.00 can feed one whole family, with one hundred percent of all donations going towards purchasing food and toys.

Norwalk-based marketing company, JumarMarketing, LLC is partnering with the CT Basket Brigade, refurbishing its website, creating an email marketing plan, launching a public relations campaign, and creating a Facebook page and Twitter presence, all aimed at generating year-round awareness and support for a worthy cause. JumarMarketing staff will also be volunteering for the CT Basket Brigade’s fall event. Jumar hopes that volunteers, new and old, will upload photos, share stories and contribute to the CT Basket Brigade’s expanded presence.

About The Basket Brigade

Founded by self-help author and success coach Tony Robbins, The Basket Brigade is built on a simple notion: one small act of generosity on the part of one caring person can transform the lives of hundreds. It takes only one light to dispel the darkness and even just one basket or a few, to bring hope. A Basket Brigade takes place when one individual prepares one basket to personally deliver to a needy family or individual.

What Do Red High Heels and Marketing Have In Common?

Monday, September 20th, 2010

More than you might expect. Putting on a pair of red high heels in the morning can be a daunting task to those who are used to slipping on those trusty sneakers or flip-flops. It is natural to follow the path of least resistance and do what is comfortable to us. The same holds true for marketing. Hectic days make it easy to get caught in a marketing rut and employ the same tried and true tools that we’ve always known and used. But, sometimes, taking a risk yields a big payoff: Just as those sexy high heels can help get you noticed and stand out from a crowd, so too can creative, attention-grabbing marketing tactics. But … ugh umm … when chosen poorly, those same heels can also make you fall flat on your face.

This was the message with which we kicked off during our recent presentation “The Fundamentals of Online Marketing,” held at UCONN’s Stamford campus on September 11. The unexpected red heels at at the front of the room generated interest and intrigue. Our audience, which was comprised of local business owners, wanted to hear what purpose we had with them. Once we roused their curiosity, it was an easy to segue into the real meat of the workshop: The Benefits of a Marketing Strategy, The Importance of an Effective Website, SEO, What Your Visitor’s Behavior Tells You, Leveraging Social Media, and Do It Yourself vs. Partnering with a Professional. The presentation was long (3 hours to be exact) and detailed. But, judging by the interaction from the audience, it was anything by yawn worthy.

We’d like to chalk up the liveliness of the crowd to having good content, thought-provoking examples, and some funny videos sprinkled in, but we can’t help but go back to the heels. Those sexy little numbers set the tone for the discussion and made for a more lively learning experience. So, as marketers, the moral of this story is simple: If you want to stay fresh, trigger a different outcome, and, ultimately, make your audience pay attention, you need to abandon your old shoes from time to time and slip on something less comfortable and more provocative. Why? We think Kelly Pickler, American Idol contestant and country singer, says it best.

Thinking beyond the Mix: A Case Study in Capturing Attention and Becoming Memorable

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

Getting the word out about your company seems like a simple task on paper. Write an email, set up a Facebook account, call some prospects. In reality however, getting potential customers to notice, think about, and remember you can be a lot more daunting. What works for one business may not—and most often does not—work for another.

So, before diving into the tactical main course, one must strategize with an appetizer of ingenuity. Ask questions like: What makes my business unique? Who are my customers? What is the most memorable, creative, effective way to reach them?

Elyse Porterfield aspiring actress from LA
Look to the recent hoax in which “Jenny” quit her job via dry erase board. Talk about viral. Something so simple yet so creative exploded over the internet in a day’s time. Accidentally or on purpose, Elyse Porterfield, an aspiring actress from L.A., has just catapulted herself into fame. And if you don’t know what Farmville is, you are probably wondering about it now. Opportunities will come for Elyse, for sure.

Imagine if your product or service was behind that hoax. What likely cost very little but was fueled by that one great idea turned out to generate results TheChive.com likely never saw coming. So, the moral of this story is “think, think, think” before you just “do, do, do.” Go beyond what is traditional to make you or your company stand apart from the crowd. Once the light bulb illuminates, the details will follow as naturally as burps after soda, or, in Elyse’s case, fame after some cute photos with a whiteboard.

To learn more about creative marketing strategies, attend JumarMarketing, LLC’s workshop “Fundamentals of Online Marketing” on September 11, 2010 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the UConn Stamford campus.

Dimensions In Glass, Inc. Keeps Its Shower Doors Looking “Forever New” with Aegis Glass™

Monday, July 26th, 2010

Local glass contractor adds value and longevity by offering a patented glass treatment on all of its frameless and semi-framed show enclosures

Fairfield, CT (July 26, 2010) – Dimensions In Glass, Inc., a full-service contractor specializing in the design, implementation and installation of custom glass products for the residential and commercial markets, formally introduces Aegis Glass™, a revolutionary glass-coating product that protects shower enclosures to keep them looking newer longer. It is added as a one-time application at the time of installation in an effort to reduce the amount of effort required to keep the shower door looking new and clean.

Named after the garment worn by Greek gods to protect themselves from threat, the word "Aegis" symbolizes invulnerability and protection. This product acts in a similar fashion, incorporating a "non-stick" polymeric resin that shields shower doors against hard water, humidity, soap and shampoo build-up and causing them to simply glide off without the use of harsh chemicals. Additionally, Aegis Glass™ promotes a more hygienic environment by creating an invisible barrier against harmful organic and inorganic contaminants.

As a complimentary value-add for its customers, Dimensions In Glass, Inc. is offering Aegis Glass™ as a standard feature on all of its frameless and semi-framed shower enclosures. Says customer Katherine Meyer, "The shower installation looks beautiful…we want to thank [Dimensions In Glass, Inc.] for recommending the Aegis Glass™. We had company this weekend and all the kids showered in our bathroom last night. To my surprise this morning the glass looks like it was just cleaned."

Describing his enthusiasm for the new product, Jonathan Redwood, owner of Dimensions In Glass, Inc. states, "I am excited to offer this amazing new product. Not only does it minimize the amount of time necessary to keep our shower enclosures clean and transparent," Redwood continued, "It also creates a more hygienic environment for our customers. I am proud to incorporate Aegis Glass™ within our product offerings, and the feedback from customers has been tremendous."

Catch Them while They’re HOT – 5 Tips for Writing Effective Web Content

Friday, July 9th, 2010

Writing for the Web isn’t like writing for print. You have about 3 seconds to grab visitors’ attention, warm them up and entice them to stay. Follow these steps to get them to read what you have to say and hunger for more.

  • Be Relevant. Take off your comfy shoes and put on those of your visitors. What do they want to know about? Write less about what you want to say and more about what will be valuable to your audience. When your readers connect with your content, they will come back for more.
  • Clean House. “K”onsistency is King, so if you choose black Arial font for your main body text, keep it that way throughout. Bulleted list can be your friend, but keep them to a maximum of 7 points. The idea is to make items easy to read, not look like a grocery list. Also, try to write in the same tone throughout, so the transition from one page to the next is seamless.
  • Give Up the Grapes. Don’t make your audience climb the tree. Tell visitors what they want to know in the first few lines so they don’t need to mine for what they are looking for. Remember, 3 seconds.
  • Link, Baby, Link. Have a lot to say but limited on space? Include a short and sweet teaser for each topic and a link to more information, whether inside or outside of your website. Even when the writing turf is wide open, embed links within body content to make it more lively, credible, and interesting.
  • For Goodness Sake, PROOFREAD! What’s worse than having the integrity of your great message negated by the typo you didn’t catch?? Nothing! Read, re-read, backward, forward, up, down and all around. Pass it around for others to read. Post it on the walls. Do whatever you need to do to ensure mistakes are found. Then, when you’re done, read it again.

Twitter and Facebook and LinkedIn, Oh My!

Monday, June 14th, 2010

So you’ve heard this all before – is your business on Facebook? Do you tweet? Are you connected on LinkedIn? We often hear a resounding YES to some or all of the above. But almost as often, it’s followed by the statement “I don’t really know what to do with it.”

Today, more than ever, businesses are challenged with improving overall performance, usually with fewer resources and utilizing less traditional methods. This brings us to the topic of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Social Media. The clear benefit to combining these efforts – increased awareness through the social networking channels and attracting links, otherwise known as link building - has a positive impact on SEO.

Simply put, optimized content gets you ‘discovered’ by the search engines. Social media creates more visibility for your brand and encourages sharing across communities. This activity can result in a substantial number of inbound links to your website.

How do you make it all work? A few key steps to get started:

  • Identify your audience – What are they doing online and where are they hanging out?
  • Set objectives – What do you want to achieve and how will you measure its’ effectiveness?
  • Outline a plan – Give them something to talk about.
  • Execute the plan – Create the content and get it out there.
  • Measure and learn – Monitor and analyze the analytics

Blending SEO and social media marketing efforts assist you in attracting new prospects through search engines and can facilitate links back to your website. The potential is there – you can’t ignore it. Just take note the next time you perform a search on Google … you’ll see they’re incorporating Tweets and shares from other networks in the search results!

What’s in the SEO “Secret Sauce”?

Friday, March 26th, 2010

“We can make you #1 in search results” – this is a claim that is made regularly by Search Engine Optimization (SEO) companies. Sounds too good to be true? That’s because it is.

SEO is the process of creating online awareness in your industry so that when people search for certain phrases in search engines such as Google, Bing, etc., your website appears at the beginning of the search results.

I’m often asked about how companies can appear on the first page in the first few listings of the SEO search results. There are several methods, but mostly it includes having other relevant sites linking to your site, having relevant information on your site and keeping the information on your site updated regularly. It requires you to create a website that will keep your visitors coming back again and again.

My advice... Don’t be sold on a quick solution. A "true" SEO company will explain that SEO is only one ingredient in a fully integrated marketing strategy.
